Welcome to the Mediation Room

Welcome to the Mediation Room: What to Expect

You Stay in Control
Divorce can feel like everything is being taken from you. Mediation is different. It is 100% voluntary and confidential. A mediator is not a judge — they will never make decisions for you. Even if a court sends you to mediation, just showing up fulfills that requirement. Everything after that is your choice

The Focus Is on Your Future
When a marriage ends, it is easy to get stuck in old arguments. Mediation does not dwell there. Your mediator will help you answer three simple questions: What is your life like today? What would make it better? And how do we get there?

Your mediator is on both sides
A good mediator does not take sides — and they are not cold or distant either. Modern mediators are trained to be "omnipartial." That means they work equally hard for both of you. They meet with each of you, listen to what you need, and help you build a path forward together.

Your feelings belong in the room
Divorce is emotional — and that is completely normal. A skilled mediator will not rush past your feelings. If things get intense, they slow down, check in, and make sure nothing important is being missed before moving forward..

Law and emotion, together
Mediation blends the practical side of divorce — finances, custody, property — with a real understanding of human emotion. Many mediators have legal training, so you get structure and heart in the same room.

Small wins keep things moving
Because mediation is voluntary, your mediator works hard to keep both of you motivated. They do this by helping you find small wins along the way — agreements that make staying at the table the best option for your future.

A Safe Space for Hard Conversations
A mediator is not a therapist or a counselor. Their specialty is managing conflict between people. Their entire training is focused on bringing you and your spouse together in a way that feels safe, productive, and always moving forward.
