1. You feel alone and isolated – maybe you are physically isolated
2. If you’re a parent, you feel like a single parent
3. Lack of emotional safety and support. You feel like you have to be careful about what you say and how you say it, because your partner might rage/get really upset with you – also called ‘walking on eggshells’
4. They may struggle with addictions – alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, shopping, social media, work.
5. Money & sex become control tools
6. You feel sad, depressed, anxious or worse
7. You start getting strange health issues – you may gain or lose weight - everything from weird digestive issues to migraines, fibromyalgia, diabetes or cancer
8. You become confused about who you are - loss of identity
9. Your partner is very transactional – do this for me and I’ll do that for you.
10. You aren’t able to resolve conflicts. Any perceived resolution will happen because you decide to move past it or concede/give in.
